Les Cassagnes de La Nerthe 2022

AOP Côtes-du-Rhône Villages

You will find “Les Cassagnes de La Nerthe” in the heart of the secluded massif d’Uchaux. Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre make up most of the red vines. The berries explode with flavor and freshness when they’re opened. And the garrigue is never very far away. This Côtes-du-Rhône Villages has a true identity.

Bright garnet color. On the nose, fruity (red berries) and floral (blackcurrant buds) scents along with slight liquorice touches. On the palate, crunchy fruits ('burlat' cherry) mixed with accents of ‘garrigue’ (thyme, olive, laurel). The whole is balanced, waving between liveliness and roundness. The delicate texture of the tannins marks this 2022 vintage and the minty finish reminds La Provence!

There's touch of oak to the nose and palate, giving a touch of spice and polish to the intense, concentrated nectarine flavours. Plenty of impact and concentration. Grown within the Côtes du Rhône Villages Massif d'Uchaux AOC territory, but that appellation is currently reserved for red wines only

A fruity, round and velvety blend of grenache, syrah and mourvedre. The nose shows notes of strawberries, sweet cherries, praline, roasted meat and mixed spices. It’s medium-bodied with fine tannins. Velvety texture with a spicy kick at the center and more peppery character in the vibrant finish. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is gourmand, fruity, slightly jammy. It expresses notes of crushed wild strawberry, cherry jam, raspberry coulis, juicy blackberry and crème de cassis, combined with notes of morello cherry in chocolate, prunes and roasted meat (in the background), with a fine spiciness (nutmeg, cumin), herbaceous (rosemary, mint) and slightly toasted notes. We also find a very subtle touch of violet after aeration. The palate is silky, filling and fresh at the same time. The attack is fruity, gourmand and offers notes of blackberry, black plum, morello cherry, crushed blackcurrant, wild strawberry and raspberry coulis. In the mid-palate, we find notes of sweet spices (nutmeg, cumin), roasted aromatic herbs (roasted bouquet garni), as well as morello cherry in chocolate, dried mint and toasted hazelnut in the background. The tannins are fine and firm, sapid, with a good bitterness on the finish. Good persistence and a refreshing acidity with notes
