Château La Nerthe 2016
Château La Nerthe 2016
AOP Châteauneuf-du-Pape
Château La Nerthe, Châteauneuf-du-Pape red, is the soul of the estate’s wines. It has been exported across the globe since the eighteenth century. All the plots of grenache noir, syrah, mourvèdre, and cinsault grapes are planted across the different soil types within the wine appellation, making the style of this wine the full expression of the complexity of Châteauneuf-du-Pape. It pairs wonderfully with rare meat, Provencal classics, or other elaborate dishes made with sauce.
The dark, deep, inky color of the wine shows imediately the concentration of the vintage. Nose of blackcurrants, black tea, dried flowers is definitely standing out. The mouth is rich, fruity, velvety, with an incredibly layered tannin structure. The wine is balanced, pure, really intense and long, an incredible ageing potential.
- Jeb Dunnuck : 94/100 - "Deeply colored, the 2016 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a blend of 37% Grenache, 29% Syrah, 25% Mourvèdre, and the rest Cinsault and other permitted varieties. With classic notes of currants, ripe black cherries, new saddle leather, and peppery herbs, it's rich, full-bodied, and concentrated, with a pure, focused style that's going to age gracefully for 15-20 years. It's one of the finest classical cuvées I can remember."
