A blend of 43% Roussanne, 30% Clairette, 25% Grenache Blanc and 2% Bourboulenc, La Nerthe's 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc is a large-scaled, bombastic effort, with smoky-toasty accents to the bold pineapple and tangerine fruit. Some may consider it over the top, but it delivers ample flavor and richness—just don't expect it to age for more than a few years.

I loved the 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Blanc, an absolute banging white that has ripe citrus and honeyed, spicy nuances in its medium-bodied, wonderfully pure, focused profile. A blend of 44% Roussanne, 41% Grenache Blanc, 11% Clairette, and 4% Bourboulenc, it shows the softer style of the vintage and brings plenty of fruit while staying balanced, focused, and light on its feet. It’s a brilliant wine, and I suspect it will age gracefully over the coming decade or more.

I love the balance of restrained creaminess from maturation on the lees with the elegant structure and animating freshness, the latter accentuate by a touch of bitterness in the long, quite firm finish. La Nerthe's 2021 Chateauneuf du Pape offers up subdued hints of leather, black cherries and plum on the nose. A blend of 39% Grenache, 33% Mourvèdre and 25% Syrah, with a few percentages of other permitted varieties, it's full-bodied and powerful but not overly concentrated, with a velvety feel on the dark chocolate-tinged finish. I'd opt for drinking it on the young side

Vinified from certified organic grapes, the 2021 Châteauneuf-du-Pape is a little reductive at this showing. Time in the glass brings out ripe red fruits mingling with licorice and leafy undertones. Smooth tannins gently frame the medium- to full-bodied 2021, culminating in a bright and fruit­driven finish.

A focused expression, this wine delivers pure red and black fruits unfolding against a delicate rose-petal backdrop. Silky yet chewy tannins gradually reveal layers of red cherry, pomegranate, spice, violets, and a hint of clove. Blending 56% Roussanne with 44% Grenache Blanc from certified organic grapes, the 2022 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Blanc Clos de Beauvenir delivers. Swirling the glass unlocks fragrant pineapple, spring blossom, white peach and lemon flesh notes. Concentrated and round, this is a serious Blanc Clos de Beauvenir with the potential to gain more nuance after a few years in bottle. That said, it's already drinking splendidly.

The new wood has been pared back in the 2022 Chateauneuf du Pape Blanc Clos de Beauvenir, a 70-30 blend of Roussanne and Grenache Blanc aged predominantly in demi-muids, with 15% going into new barriques. Hints of oaky spice accent pineapple and lime notes on the nose, while the medium to full-bodied palate is rich and silky in texture, even a trifle phenolic on the finish in its youth. This should be even better in another year or two.

The 2023 Châteauneuf Du Pape Clos De Beauvenir Blanc (52% Roussanne and 48% Grenache Blanc) is along the same lines, if not a touch more focused and precise. Honeyed pears, white flowers, spice, and crushed stone-like minerality all define the aromatics, and it's medium to full-bodied, has a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, and a gorgeous finish. You can safely put this up with the crème de la crème of the vintage, and it should evolve gracefully over the coming decade if well stored.

The 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée des Cadettes (40% Grenache, 40% Mourvèdre, and 20% Syrah aged in 25% new barrels) is cut from the same cloth yet shows a slightly more modern style in its black raspberry, wild strawberry, spicy wood, peppery garrigue, and floral aromatics and flavors. It's medium-bodied, nicely balanced, has building yet ripe, polished tannins, and a great finish. It handles its oak beautifully, and this will have two decades of overall longevity.

At once cool and creamy, even waxy, on the lively medium-bodied palate, an unusual combination for this appellation. Attractive white-flower and stone-fruit aromas. Very nice lemony freshness in the finish. A cuvee of 32% viognier, 28% grenache blanc, 24% roussanne and 16% marsanne.

Pale pink. Soft and easygoing, with low acidity but still fresh, with an enjoyably crisp, mineral finish. Very well balanced, the finish builds into a crescendo. A very impressive rosé for the southern Rhône. A blend of Grenache Noir, Gris and Blanc makes up 60%; plus 30% Cinsault and 10% Syrah.

Whiffs of sandalwood and char introduce this full-bodied, fleshy Côtes-du-Rhône Villages produced by owners of Château La Nerthe in Châteauneuf-du-Pape. While black plum and blueberry flavors are ample on the palate, reflective of the vintage, it’s a touch demure in concentration compared to previous years. A juicy, forward wine to drink young.

The wine has a ruby color of medium intensity. The nose is gourmand, fruity, slightly jammy. It expresses notes of crushed wild strawberry, cherry jam, raspberry coulis, juicy blackberry and crème de cassis, combined with notes of morello cherry in chocolate, prunes and roasted meat (in the background), with a fine spiciness (nutmeg, cumin), herbaceous (rosemary, mint) and slightly toasted notes. We also find a very subtle touch of violet after aeration. The palate is silky, filling and fresh at the same time.
